DAY TOURS
There is at least one club day trip each weekend during the ski season. Some weekends there are two or more. Non-member guests are welcomed on our day tours. The tours can serve as a way for members and non-members alike to enjoy nordic skiing. In addition, day tours are a recruiting tool and are to some extent a "public service" provided by the Club.
In addition to welcoming guests to our day tours, all participants need to be properly equipped and prepared for the scheduled route. All participants are requested to contact the tour leader prior to the trip, and tour leader approval is required for participation by both members and non-members. This is to ensure the enjoyment and safety of all!
All day tour participants will be asked to sign the club's Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver. New participants will receive a complimentary copy of the Newsletter when you include your mailing or email address.
The tours are of varying length and difficulty.Skill levels applied to touring are A- Easy and B- Intermediate. C- Advanced and D- Expert are assigned to backcountry and high terrain skiing. A level entails a need for basic skills and the traversing of a few miles on largely level terrain. With B level skiing, distances extend to 10+ miles, moderate hills are encountered and the accumulated elevation gain for the trip can exceed 1000 feet. Entering backcountry, C trips add elevation gain, frequent steep terrain and extended time “on the skis”. D is best described as professionally challenging with substantial difficult terrain and long distances entailed.
OVERNIGHT TRIPS
Membership is required for overnight ski trips.
Most overnights involve sharing the rent on a cabin, while some are overnight snow camping adventures.
